New funding thrills Oregon film industry - Portland Business Journal:

Lawmakers passed Senate Bill 621, whichy will provide up to $7.5 million in new tax creditxs to filmmakers who produce projectsin Oregon. The measurr passed the Senate 20-10 count and the House Gov. Ted Kulongoski, a fervent film industrty supporter, is expected to sign the measure. Many in the film industrg considered the measure dead after lawmakersz took their time considering the motion at thecommittew level. The measure passed Some Salem insiders believe the 2009 session couldend Monday. Lawmakersd must still agree on components of a budgettreconciliation bill.
Vince Porter, executive directore of the Governor’s , said the work of unionds and tourism officials helped pass the film Groups such as the played keylobbying roles, he said. The bill limitxs the credits to $750,000 and applies to production companies that spend atleast $75,0009 in Oregon.
