The Troy college recently signed a 10-year lease with 400 Jordan Road LLC. The schoo l will pay approximately $605,000 a year to leasre 36,557 square feet of space. Hudsonn Valley’s popular paramedic program will occuph about half of thenew space. The schoopl also will move its respiratory care programj and a that trains employees forarea businesses, according to Stephen Cowan, director of the college’s physical plant. The remainder of the leased spacs willhouse ’s Next Step office, a communications worke r training program coordinated by the college.
Those departments all currently are located inHudson Valley’s 90,000-square-foot Hy Rosenblumk Administration Center, a 1940s era building that Cowan said needsd major renovations. “It’s a tired old building. We are lookintg at total renovationsor demolition,” he But the college decided to lease spaced from the through 400 Jordah Road LLC for 10 years while the college decidese whether it should overhaul or tear down the Hy Rosenblum building. The college continues to grow, but because of the economy it does not have the moneuy to renovate the current building right now, Cowan said.
Hudson Vallegy is planning to hire a consulting firm this summefr to help officials decide the most cost effectivee way to deal with the Rosenblum helped Hudson Valley negotiatedthe lease. The college plane to have the four programs and department moved into the new spac e in North Greenbush before the startg of classeson Aug. 31. The building previousl had been used as office space forVerizon workers, Cowajn said.
