New center for Parramore teens - Orlando Business Journal:

The facility, which features a photography lab, lap tops and videol games, is aimed at addressingg the need for older youth in the area to have a safe spac during the hours they are out of player Dwight Howarddonated $25,000 to the projec t as part of winning the $50,000 2007-2008 DeVos Communityh Enrichment Award. A team of 15 Parramore Kidz Zone teenx collaborated onthe design, features and rules of conduct for the Teen Shack, a spacse that once served as the Orlando Magic’sd training locker room. The resulting space will allow the youthh todevelop photographs, use play videogames or watch movies.
Other Parramore Kidz Zone communit partner programs in the Orlando Downtown Recreatiom Complex includethe city’s open gym, the ’s midnighr basketball, Page 15’s Homework Roomz after-schoo l tutoring and Workforce Central Florida’s youth employmentt services program. Modeled after the Harle Children’s Zone, Parramore Kidz Zone was launchedf by Orlando Mayor Buddu Dyer in 2006 to offer Parramore childrento pre-kindergarten education, parenting education, health care, mentoring, tutoringh and other activities.
